Glass is actually not solid but a liquid. I hear that oh com'on.I actually said the same thing when I first heard.However, the thing is that it is a metastable liquid.
Metastability is like equilibrium state but this state is changing slightly.Hence, it is not really stable but we see that it is stable because the necessary time to get 'stable' for the material is too long for us to see. In glass example, like 10000 years or more.So we say glass is solid but it is just not.If you ever see a structure very old, look at the windows.There may be some piling up glass in the bottom of the window.
